Only introduce music that you don't mind listening to the whole way. My mom gave us a very nice CD of kids songs, but now I can't get Turkey in the Straw out of my head, and they want to listen to it ALL THE TIME.



Like the previous song, this one also has movement, an outdoor theme and is easy to learn. As far as action movements, I have seen people do this several ways. Kevin Bueltmann: "Not counting a simple song I wrote when I was 5, the first song I wrote was when I was a homesick freshman in college. I opened my Bible and there was Psalm 86.showing me just the words I needed to hear from God. The music and words came together quickly and easily and I've been writing songs ever since.

Fred Clark: I play guitar-acoustic 6 string, electric, and acoustic 12 string. I mention it that way because there is a slightly different approach you have to take to them. I also play bass and a little mandolin. I played trumpet as a kid, and have been thinking about picking it up again to use on future recording projects. I'd love to learn how to play cello, but not sure I will ever have the time. I'm too busy now as it is!

NYGEE: You're parents who started Milkshake when your own kids were babies. Now they're tweens and they even contribute to this album. What have you learned through the years about the role that music can play in children's lives and development?

Second: Start slow, do scales. Get the basic scales out and go through them. It took me actually having to number my keyboard at first, i had forgotten so much. From there i was able to translate the numbers to notes, and the scales began to get familiar. So often in trying to figure how to play piano despite years of lesson we don't want to succumb back to the simple things. This scale practice is also preparation for the next step.
